A number of enrichment programs are offered at Baringa School.
A range of camps is offered throughout a student's school life. These range from pre camp experiences which may include special excursion of incursion activities, to school sleep-overs for younger students, and up to four or five day camps at Wilson's Promontory, Phillip Island, Melbourne City and beyond.
Four mini buses owned by the school are used to access off campus learning environments. In addition, the school makes extensive use of community facilities and services such as public transport, businesses and other work locations for work experience placements.
Baringa School has access to, and uses weekly, a small school camp in the hills behind Thorpdale. The camp houses approximately 20 students and is used regularly for sleepovers as well as to support our daily living skills program for students with these particular program goals.
Cooking and camp skills are among the skills taught in this environment, in a focussed and relaxed atmosphere.
To foster health, fitness and self esteem, students are given opportunities to experience a range of challenging and age appropriate outdoor education activities.
These include such as learning to surf, rock climbing, bush walking, abseiling, fishing and many others. Sailability - a learn to sail program operates from Hazelwood Pondage in terms 1 and 4. A Sailing Regatta is held between the Gippsland Special Schools every two years.

A range of beautiful art work is created in our Arts department. Textiles, Sculpture, Painting, Mosaics, and learning Art History and Art appreciation ensure that students produce art work of a beautiful quality.

At the end of each year we hold a Presentation Night Concert to celebrate the achievements of students throughout the year. Each grade performs an act, dance routine or small performance. Music is conducted by individual class teachers.

A whole school fun day athletics carnival is held anually in Newborough where students participate in a variety of events.
Students also have the option to participate in several interschool sporting activities throughout the year, including soccer, basketball, sailing and bike education. The electives program also offers participation in learning different sports through each term.
In term 1 the whole school have a welcome fun swimming day at Yallourn North pool. Students also have the option to participate in swimming elective during term 1, 2 and 4.
Baringa hosts an annual soccer tournament for combined Gippsland Special schools. After the initiation of the day and its success, Baringa has continued to host the event for the past 7 years.
Every September, all of the Special schools across the state are invited to participate in a soccer tournament, with the focus being on all students being involved and enjoying the sense of belonging and friendly competition.
This program has become an award program receiving 2014 Australia Day honours for Latrobe Community Event of the Year. It is another highlight of the calendar year for students and families.
Every 2 years Baringa holds a Debutante Ball for students turning 16 years of age. The Ball is a much anticipated event and a highlight of the year for all students participating.

At the end of each year we hold a Presentation Night Concert to celebrate the achievements of students throughout the year. Each student is given a Celebration Folder containing photos of special moments and activities they have been involved in.
