Click here to see our web gallery of camps, sports, excursions and other activities.

A number of enrichment programs are offered at Baringa School.

Outdoor Activities

Camps and Excursions

A range of camps is offered throughout a student's school life. These range from pre camp experiences which may include special excursion of incursion activities, to school sleep-overs for younger students, and up to four or five day camps at Wilson's Promontory, Phillip Island, Melbourne City and beyond.

Four mini buses owned by the school are used to access off campus learning environments. In addition, the school makes extensive use of community facilities and services such as public transport, businesses and other work locations for work experience placements.

Childers Camp

Baringa School has access to, and uses weekly, a small school camp in the hills behind Thorpdale. The camp houses approximately 20 students and is used regularly for sleepovers as well as to support our daily living skills program for students with these particular program goals.
Cooking and camp skills are among the skills taught in this environment, in a focussed and relaxed atmosphere.

Outdoor Education, including Sailability

To foster health, fitness and self esteem, students are given opportunities to experience a range of challenging and age appropriate outdoor education activities.

These include such as learning to surf, rock climbing, bush walking, abseiling, fishing and many others. Sailability - a learn to sail program operates from Hazelwood Pondage in terms 1 and 4. A Sailing Regatta is held between the Gippsland Special Schools every two years.
