Baringa places an emphasis on pastoral care to ensure that all students feel supported, welcomed and cared for.
Each section of the school has school captains elected at the beginning of the school year. Students self nominate and deliver a speech to their peers as to why they would be the best candidate for school captain. Their peers and staff then vote to select captains in the primary, secondary and whole school captain categories.
These school captains are then given responsibilities to represent the school in the community, organise student events at school and be the ‘student voice’ for all students. The captains work regularly with the School Chaplain to develop their leadership and communication skills.

Baringa places an emphasis on pastoral care to ensure that all students feel supported, welcomed and cared for.
Aspects of pastoral care include:
All students have their own pastoral care teacher who is responsible for planning their individual programs, reporting on progress, and monitoring the general well-being of each student in their care.

Healthy Together Latrobe Program- Baringa School is currently working with the Latrobe Shire to promote healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Together Latrobe is a major new initiative that aims to improve people’s health where they live, learn, work and play by addressing the causes of poor health in children's settings, workplaces and communities to strengthen Latrobe’s health prevention system.
Healthy Together Latrobe is working with Baringa School to encourage healthy eating and physical activity, reduce smoking and harmful alcohol use in the community. With a locally based team, the emphasis of health prevention is put back into local hands.
